The Air Up There: Vintage Tourism in the Blue Mountains

13 December 2013 – 27 January 2014

The Air Up There explores the formative years of Blue Mountains tourism from the early 1900s to the 1950s. Each decade provides a treasure trove of material through which to explore the vintage tourist experience. From the ‘view-books’ and stereographs of the turn-of-the century through to the ‘Felix man of Katoomba’ phenomena of the 50s, this exhibition looks back in wonder at a unique period in Australian history.

A Blue Mountains Cultural Centre exhibition curated by Tim Smith.
