Tracey Moffatt from the MAMA collection

Tracey Moffatt is one of Australia’s most successful international artists, known for her film, photography and video works. Drawing on cinema, television and the media, her art is equally inspired by popular culture, recollections from her childhood and art history. The exhibition is drawn from the collection of the Murray Art Museum Albury (MAMA), and features photographs from Moffatt’s Something More, Scarred for Life and Some Lads series. Moffatt began her career as an experimental filmmaker and producer of music videos, and she continued making films after establishing herself as an artist. She first came to prominence in the Australian art world with her series Something More. Commissioned in 1989 by the Albury Regional Art Gallery, now MAMA, the series set the tone and themes for much of Moffatt’s later work and is accompanied by other works from the MAMA collection.
