Create a beautiful eco-dye cushion cover, every design is unique and will be a special representation of this creative experience.
In this workshop you will learn eco-dye techniques, this environmentally friendly and sustainable process creates beautiful organic designs. The leaves used in this workshop print directly onto the cotton fabric in symmetrical patterns and warm earthy hues. Connect with others in this friendly workshop where you will share ideas and learn new skills. Louise will lead you through the art of eco-dying, as you immerse yourself you will be given the opportunity to experiment with various plant materials, learning how each one uniquely interacts with the fabric to produce stunning results. Learn about choosing and preparing your fabric, choosing and preparing leaves, and folding and cooking your bundles. With these new insights you will take home the skills and the confidence to create more beautiful eco-dye projects in the future. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or a curious beginner, this workshop promises to inspire creativity and a love for eco-conscious artistry.
In this workshop:
- Experiment with a variety of plants: each plant will produce different colours and patterns; you will be able to experiment with various types to see what you like best.
- The cushion cover (50x50cm) is provided: natural fabrics like cotton, linen, or silk work best for eco-dyeing.
- Expect the unexpected: each design is unique and will be revealed when you unfold your cushion cover; with leaf prints as well as patches of solid dye from cooking in a dye bath.
By the end of this workshop, you will have a unique eco-friendly printed cushion cover that reflects the beauty of nature. Enjoy your new home décor piece and take pride in learning a creative and sustainable technique.

Artist Bio
Louise Upshall is an artist and maker living on Darug and Gundungurra Country in the Blue Mountains. Natural dyeing brings together her passions for craft, sewing, plants, gardening and writing. She loves teaching her simple and practical methods of eco-printing, to help you to more easily and joyfully get bright, clear prints and patches of living colour.
