Join us for our new online program Wake & Make – a series of fun and social, stay at home creative workshops to brighten up your Saturday morning!

Saturday 24 July: Ballpoint Pet Portraits

10am – 11.30am

Meet artist Alison Rose and learn the process, tips and tricks for drawing beautiful pet portraits with the humble ballpoint pen! Tune in for the first half hour for practical information and instructions; the ‘how to’ of mastering the ballpoint. Then stay connected to ask questions and chat, as we draw together and share stories about our furry friends.

Materials:

Essential

* 3 sheets of A4 paper. This can be printer paper or smooth drawing paper.

* Black ballpoint pen. (Gel pens will not work, it needs to be a biro.)

* A print out of the rabbit image provided (to be emailed to participants) or create a very light, pre-drawn outline of the image in pencil before the class.

Optional

Other coloured ballpoint pens.

About Blue Mountains artist Alison Rose

Alison’s lifelong passion for the creative arts has seen her pursue many successful ventures. Alison initially trained and taught as a high school visual arts teacher but, after having children, she developed a range of artistic businesses to fit with raising her family – from photography to greeting cards, painting and bespoke cake toppers. Completing a graduate diploma in art therapy in 2018, she was also an M16 Drawing Prize finalist in 2020. Alison’s Dogs of Springwood exhibition at Braemar Gallery in early 2021 was tremendously successful with high attendance and sales. Alison’s self-published book ‘I Like Dogs’ is a delightful pre-reader bursting with intricate ballpoint pen drawings of our canine friends.
