In various spiritual traditions, mandalas may be employed to focus attention and guidance and for establishing a scared space. The art of creating Mandalas in modern day has also become a relaxation tool and used in art therapy. Go for a walk with a small bucket, either in your own garden or in the bush, and set about finding things on the ground that you can use to create your mandala – sticks, rocks, gumnuts, leaves etc. Start with a small symmetrical pattern in the centre and build outwards, repeating the pattern as you go. Nature has a way of balancing things out. The rhythm of building a mandala is quite relaxing and soon you’ll have a beautiful piece of bush art!! Where possible, leave it for others to find and enjoy too. Share your mindful creations with us!
