A little piece of affordable art
Residing in the quaint little village of Mount Victoria, at the top of the Blue Mountains, Kara Cooper collages found objects, favourite things, places, illustrations, photographs and the nostalgia of the region to create fun and quirky art cards, tea towels and Blue Mountains Socks, her range of aussie made, funky cotton socks featuring bold Australiana designs.
Kara began her graphic designer career way back in the early 1990’s in Sydney (yes, pre-computers!). She has lived and worked all over Australia including Darwin, Alice Springs, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. In 2006 she moved to the Blue Mountains (after a brief flirt with the idea of Wellington, NZ), working for her clients across Australia. Her first brand in 2006 was ‘Kara Smith’, was a range of vintage fabric handbags using old fox tails, ornaments and buckles.
Mount Vic and Me was born in 2013 when Kara decided to create her own brand. After working for so many clients for so many years she finally decided it was time to start creating her own work. This began as an online store with stockists across Australia and New Zealand. Her studio opened October 2017 in the heart of the little village of Mount Victoria.
