Anyone can try their hand at painting. Whether you’re interested in working in oils or acrylics, we are sure to find a style and technique to suit you. This course is designed for beginners and intermediate students who wish to develop and perfect their skills. You will be taught colour basics such as colour theory and mixing and will quickly progress to a variety of painting projects that highlight the great versatility of both oil and acrylic paints. Learn about the formal qualities of painting and explore a variety of painting techniques, used by both traditional and contemporary painters. Learn to work in thin and thicker paint layers in a range of painting styles, from realism to abstraction.
Individual guidance is provided to allow you to develop your personal painting style.

About Kristel Smits:
Kristel Smits is a landscape artist with a focus on colour as an expression of mood. Kristel holds a Master of Fine Arts from the College of Fine Arts (University of NSW). In 2012 she undertook an artist residency at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam funded by the Australia Council for the Arts. She also teaches at the University of NSW Art & Design and at the National Art School in Sydney.
