Have you always wanted to draw but have trouble getting started? Or do you have a natural talent that you would like to develop?
This course is the perfect starting point for beginner artists, but is also suited to people with some drawing experience who want to hone their skills.
The course covers basic and more advanced drawing skills including: accurate observation and representation, capturing light and shade for three dimensional effects, observation of negative space, and aspects of perspective. A wide range of exercises will allow you to experiment with various drawing materials, styles and techniques. You will have the chance to explore still life, portraiture and landscape subjects, and some use of colour.

About Kristel Smits:
Kristel Smits is a landscape artist with a focus on colour as an expression of mood. Kristel holds a Master of Fine Arts from the College of Fine Arts (University of NSW). In 2012 she undertook an artist residency at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam funded by the Australia Council for the Arts. She also teaches at the University of NSW Art & Design and at the National Art School in Sydney.
